The finished product. Dad did the carving. The messed-up tooth's on him.

Baseball signs

I'm going to the Giants-Dodgers game Wednesday night, so Buster made me a sign to bring.

On Friday I'm taking both kids to the game against the Brewers. So Buster made himself a sign too.

We may be approaching the face-painting years.

Beehaveyoer Chart

Created by Buster, without prompting. It's a copy of his teacher's chart for all kids at school.

Cozy house update

The improvements include an address, 606, new window treatments and a sign that says, "I need alone time." Absolutely none of this was prompted by any adult. At some point after this Buster colored the sign because, he said, people were ignoring it.

Buster's cozy house

Buster crafted what he calls his cozy house out of boxes that Christmas and Chanukah presents came in. He spent a couple of hours on it, cutting and taping away. It has since been remodeled extensively, but this was the initial iteration.

Interior decoration includes a Pillow Pet pillow and a special rack for his walkie talkie.

And some exterior decoration too. You know, you do roock.

Heading home

After a week of sharing a bed with Daisy, Buster had had enough.

On the plane. Daisy's got the whole crew.

Buster's art work for the captain. He delivered it at the end of the flight.

Pumpkin carving

At the Excelsior Youth Center.

Buster's been wearing this shirt for half of his life now. He got it when he was 3.

Mom's got the Big Yellow Gloves to protect her spectacular new nail job (not pictured).

Daisy gets a hand from her new friend Jenna.

Aaaand ready to go.

Buster and Dad try to run home faster than Mom and Daisy can drive. A noble effort, but not successful.

Two views of the finished product, no flash and flash. Which is scarier?

Martian airplane

Buster, if it's a Martian plane, why does it say, "USA"?
Because that's where they're going.

More art

Framed by the kitchen table.

The museum

A painting of Buster's was chosen for the exhibit "Young at Art," an annual showcase at the de Young Museum for artwork by students in the San Francisco public schools.

"My Farm." Buster does not, technically, have a farm. It was a classwide assignment, to paint a farm.

The artist and his work. It's like the Mona Lisa. A lot smaller than you think it's going to be.

The exhibit is big.

No, really. It's big.

Really.

Really big.

And then outside, there's the Bay to Breakers.

Cal Day

There's science going on here, but I don't think the turtle cares.

This is a thing that blows up. Oh yeah, science.

Buster made this spider himself out of pipe-cleaners.

When we lived in St. Louis and Buster had a science question, we could say, "We'll ask Mr. Jon." Now that we're not hanging around with a scientist, we ad lib more, but when we're at the Life Sciences Building, we can say, "Go ask that science major over there." Note, by the way, Buster's Cal colors.

Headed home

Better shot of the spider.

Boneland

This is boneland. See, this guy's all bones. And there's a flower that's made out of bones, and the clouds are all made out of bones, and there's a plane. And the sun has a skeleton in it and even the sunshine is made out of bones. And that's a dog, and he's just really happy to be there.
