Linguistics party

Mom's new job in the linguistics department at Cal means we get invited to parties where many languages are spoken. But in this case, the main event for the kids was a hammock.

Dad and Daisy speak only one language. The language of goofy poses.
Aaaand that's more like it. Class.

Smooth around the keystone

Joe Cool, blowing a bubble mid-play. As the youngest player on the team, Buster spent most of his time playing the outfield this season, but in a happy coincidence, he got to play the whole game at second base the day Grandma and Grandpa were in town to watch him -- and he played a terrific game. He made several smart, savvy plays in the field and got several hits at-bat.

Ever since he took his first steps in front of a crowd at his first birthday party, the kid's had a nose for the big moment.

Best pals at the ballgame

Daisy and Maya at Pony League Day at AT&T Park. Maya is not on Daisy's T-ball team, the A's. She just borrowed a shirt so she could walk in the pregame parade.

Sisyphus

The one-block walk from the grocery store to our house is a GIANT hill. Daisy insisted on pushing our cart, which was heavy, all the way up that hill. She made it.

Daisy in control

Daisy: Do you know why I'd like to have the remote control at the movie theater?
Dad: Why?
Daisy: So I could skip over the boring parts.
Dad: Well, the other people in the theater might not think those parts are boring, so they might get mad at you for skipping over them.
Daisy: Hey, they gave me the remote.

Daisy the clairvoyant

The kids have just noticed the Tarot card/palm reading joint in our neighborhood, and, having asked Dad what that's all about, are discussing various soothsaying matters.

Daisy: I can read palms.
Buster: No you can't
Daisy: Yes I can.
Dad: Who taught you how to read palms?
Daisy: Maya [best friend].
Buster: Daisy, there's no such thing as people who can see into the future.
Daisy: Yes there is. I can.
Buster: OK, what am I going to say next?
Daisy: Something mean.

Whattaya know. The kid can see into the future.
