Rashomon

DAD: What did you do at school today?
I went on the playground, and I cried.
Why did you cry?
Because I kicked a boy.
You kicked a boy? Who was it?
I don't know.
Well why did you kick him?
Because I didn't like that.
You didn't like what?
I didn't like he did that first.
He kicked you first?
Yeah.
Why did he kick you? Did you do something first?
I kicked him.
You kicked him first?
No, he kicked me first, and then I kicked him.
Why did he kick you?
Because he was mad.
Was he mad at you?
Yeah.
Why?
Because I kicked him.
Did you cry when he kicked you?
Yeah.

MOM: What did you do at school today?
I went on the playground and I kicked that boy.
Yeah, I heard that. What was his name?
I don't know.
Was he in your class?
No, he was outside.
Why did you kick him?
Because I like to kick people.
Buster, no. It's not nice to kick people. You can kick a ball.
Well, I like to kick boys.
Well I wish you wouldn't kick anybody. Did he cry when you kicked him?
Yeah.
Did he kick you back?
Yeah.
Did you cry?
No. I wanted my Mommy.

Moo

(10/23)

What are you making?

Fire.

This is my favorite color! (10/19)

A daddy

I'm a daddy now.
Yeah? I guess that means I'm a grandpa.
Well, actually, I'm a grandpa too. I have sideburns on.
Who's daddy are you?
Well, there's two daddys. There's [pointing at Buster and Daddy] this and this, and there's Mommy, but she's not a daddy, because she's a girl. Actually, she's a grownup girl, and that's why she's a woman. She's a grownup.
That's right. Whose daddy are you?
Your daddy and mommy's daddy.
Oh. That's kind of circular.
(10/19)

Note: Buster is usually his dog Snip's daddy

Please?

Are you finished eating?
Yeah.
You're not going to eat your sweet potatoes?
No.
Can I have them?
Well, that's good asking, but no.

Note: It wasn't good asking. Daddy didn't say "please."
