Tray
Eating off of a tray is a big treat. And if big brother gets to eat off of a tray, you know what has to happen next.

Best present ever
For about two weeks I wasn't allowed into Buster's room because he was working on a surprise for me. Of course one learns not to expect much at times like these but, hey, a surprise. Nice. So he finally presented it to me, and -- wow. It's a giant paper airplane! It's taped here to the door of my office. I'll translate the writing: It says "I love you" next to the blue and red heart. The main part you start reading in the middle, then circle back to the top. It says: Happy New Year. Dear Daddy, I think you are the best dad. Love Buster.
Best present ever.

Playing
Buster taking a picture of a teddy bear and Stripey, a Christmas toy. The pillows are a tent. You know, we're very outdoorsy.
We'll work up to setting the Hula Hoop on fire.

Space Is My Mama
A song by Buster
Space is my mama
Space takes care of me
Space gives me lunch and dinner
Space takes me to school
I really care about my mama
I love my space
All I care about is that she's my mama
Space is my mama
Space takes care of me
Space gives me lunch and dinner
Space takes me to school
I really care about my mama
I love my space
All I care about is that she's my mama

Glossies
The first week of the year there was a phase of posing for publicity photos.

And then a performance photo.

The light isn't a light. It's a microphone.

In the car with Daisy
I'm going to wear my ballerina skirt.
When?
Next Halloween.
Oh, I thought you were going to be Dora.
Yeah, I'm gonna be Dora. Do you want to be a nice Swiper?
No, I want to be Isa.
Nooooo. She's a girl!
So?
You can't be Isa. She's a girl.
She's an iguana!
But she's a girl.
Why can't I dress up like a girl?
Because you're a boy.
It's Halloween. You mean it's OK for me to dress up like an iguana but it's not OK for me to dress up like a girl?
No.
That doesn't make sense to me.
[A minute later]
Can I have a song?
No.
Why?
Because we're almost there. There's Buster's school. La escuela de Buster.
Don't say it that way.
Sí. La escuela de Buster. Porque ellos hablan español allá.
That doesn't make sense to me.

A walk in the Panhandle
And Golden Gate Park. This is an area next to the Conservatory of Flowers with lots of desert flora, which probably thrives in San Francisco's climate.
Daisy and Nippy in the Painted Desert. We're on our way here to this diorama model train exhibit in the Conservatory of Flowers, a holiday thing representing San Francisco. The exhibit was pretty cool, and your humble servant got no good pix of it. But here's one of Daddy and Daisy trying to deal with the stifling, unbearable heat. (85 degrees.)
That's a vintage Toronto Blue Jays original logo cap. Not a good picture of that either. But you can kind of see the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.
Hot, man. Eighty-five degrees!
