Milk

I'm going to bring my milk today because my bones are little. I have to drink my milk to make strong bones.
OK.
Do you want to feel them after?
Do I want to feel your strong bones?
Yeah, do you want to feel them after?
I want to feel them now! [Hug]
No! They're not strong yet!

Major league debut

Buster's first big-league game. And undoubtedly his last at Busch Stadium -- ain't it a beautiful place? The Giants beat the Cardinals 4-2. Dad, note the hat color, was pretty happy about that. Buster got some rough news from his bookie but otherwise had a fine old time.

Who?

I'm a big brother.
That's right. And you're a great big brother too. Do you know who my big brother is?

No, Mommy isn't my big brother. My big brother is Uncle ... Uncle ...
Jeff!
Right! Very good. And who's Mommy's big brother?
Santa Claus!

Growing up

Now we're in St. Louis
Well, yeah, we are. You've been in St. Louis all day. Your school is in St. Louis too. You never left the city today.
I'm growing up in St. Louis.
That's right, you're growing up in St. Louis. Daddy didn't grow up in St. Louis but you are. Do you know where Daddy grew up?
Yeah.
Where did Daddy grow up?
[Thinking, thinking ...] Los Angeles.
That's right! Very good.
I'm growing up on my pants.
You're growing up on your pants?
Yeah. Can you hear it?
Can I hear you growing up?
Yeah.
No, I can't hear it. Can you hear it?
No.

Choice

What do you want for breakfast? You can have a breakfast bar, yogurt or grilled cheese.
I wannnnnt ... I wannnnnt ... a orange.
[Note: This is the first time Buster has expressed interest in an orange in about three months. It's also about the second day we haven't had one on hand.]
Oh, I'm sorry, Bugs, we don't have any oranges. We have apples. You want an apple?
No.
Well, you can have a breakfast bar, yogurt, grilled cheese or an apple.
I wannnnt ... mackyroni and cheese.
Buster, your choices are breakfast bar, yogurt, grilled cheese or an apple. Those are pretty good choices. That's a lot to choose from.
Can I have chocolate?
Buster. Breakfast bar. Yogurt. Grilled cheese. Apple. Those are your choices.
Can I have a banana?
[Pause]
OK.

This banana's kinda sqwushy.

Stand-up guy

Hey, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, I stand up to pee just like you do!
That's right
Do you stand up to pee?
Yeah, I do.
Does Mommy stand up?
No, she sits down.
Oh. Is she a girl?
Yup.
[Long pause. Long.]
Oh.

Toy store

Uncles Peter and Jeb came to visit from New York, and they wanted to go straight to the giant toy store to get Buster something. This of course led to Buster considering the possibilities.

Oh, the possibilities.

Peter had an idea.

No. No motorcycles yet. Buster decided on a fire engine with flashing lights, a siren, a ladder that can be rotated electrically, a little jingle that's already embedded in Mom and Dad's brain, and even an interior light in the cab that comes on when you open the door so the firefighter can slide into the driver's seat. It's really fun to play with, Peter and Jeb assured Buster.

Really, just wait your turn and you'll see.

American Gothic

Apres swim at the hotel with Lindsey.

On the car ride home:
Is Mommy home?
Yes.
Is she lying on the couch?
I don't know, but that's a pretty good bet.
Is she tired?
Yeah, I think she's probably tired. Do you know why she's tired?
Because.
Because why?
Because she is.
She's tired because she's pregnant. Do you know what pregnant means?
It means she's tired.
Pregnant means there's a baby in her belly. Do you know who's in her belly?
Yeah! My baby sister!

Buster, with better taste than manners, doesn't like the host's hat and tries to knock it off.

A fairly random sampling of guests. From left, Kati, Patrick, Kelly, Beth, Louise, Rebecca, Eric, Jim (holding A.J.), Ana and half of Jon.
